Earth Hour 2009

Edinburgh businesses and residents at the West End joined the Scottish Parliament, Edinburgh Castle and Forth Road Bridge along with over 930 cities and towns in 80 countries across the world by taking part in the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) "Earth Hour 2009".

Earth Hour 2009 was a massive global demonstration of how important the issues of energy wastage and Climate Change are to all of us. Between 8.30 and 9.30 pm on Sat 28th March the world switched off its lights.

Sponsored by Ezone Software and the Scottish Yurt Company enjoyed an evening of acoustic music and socialising with ambient lighting in the beautiful setting of the Dean gardens. Local residents and businesses were encouraged to switch off their lights alongside Edinburgh Castle for an hour of darkness to show their commitment to climate change.
